This is the first video we did for the party. Be gentle.
The garage was cleared out on the 15th, a new record. All of the boxes should be put away by tomorrow night, again a record for putting it all away.
The decorations for the Party are extensive, comprising more than 16 plastic totes, one half of our storage shed (for the tombstones and other outside things), various corners and under beds, as well as several cardboard boxes for the garage facade brick wall covering. Plus the extra keg bucket (which is filled with lighting during the off-season).
I usually start setting up decorations in early September, and have some years still had decorations up until spring, but not this year:-)
Though this season went well, each and every season brings its own mishaps and accidents, usually while setting up or putting away. This year’s big mishap again belonged to the seemingly cursed driveway columns. We have a set of columns that hold up the driveway gates, and they have finally met their end a mere three years after I built them. For some reason, Ohio has become some sort of high wind area, and this year it finished off the columns. Even though our columns weigh in around 20 pounds, and have 35 pounds of water in a bucket inside, somehow the wind still managed to blow them over on the 30th. One was completely shattered (by coincidence the same one that was damaged before). I’ll just have to add ‘new columns’ to the list I keep for “Things To Do For Next Year”, with some improvements dedicated to storage and stability..
Halloween is over for another year. This year I sat out while my wife took the kids TOT-ing. A record year: 7 whole kids. It’s a bummer we live on a dead-end street, where you can’t see the end from the turnoff. Nobody comes down here…And I even killed the fatted calf, all the lights, spooky music, torches, a fire, the whole nine yards. Well, at least those that did come were pleased.
